Statement from British Airways World Cargo (27/09/2001)

Following the impact on demand of the tragic events in the USA, British Airways is to operate a reduced schedule to America and to rationalise services to both long-haul and short-haul destinations.

In summary, 47 services per week will be withdrawn from the long haul network whilst the short haul network will be reduced by 20 services per day.

Although the Heathrow to Belfast service has been withdrawn, British Airways World Cargo will continue to offer trucked services to and from Belfast for the time being, subject to a review of the global cargo operation.

  • A number of routes have been suspended from London Gatwick. These are: Stockholm, Gothenburg, Gdansk, Zurich, Shannon, Cork, Rotterdam, Montpellier. New York. Alternative flights and routings are available from London Heathrow on a number of these suspended routes. The London Heathrow to Islamabad has also been suspended.
  • A number of routes will move from London Gatwick to London Heathrow. These comprise: Lyons, Entebbe, Damman, Accra, Nassau, Baltimore.
  • In addition on certain routes there will be aircraft swaps, these will include replacing some 767 operations at London Heathrow with 757 or 737 operations. Routes affected include: Athens, Moscow, Istanbul, Nice, Munich and Larnaca. Tel Aviv will operate a 767 service instead of a 777.

British Airways World Cargo's priority is to ensure its customers continue to receive the excellent customer service they deserve during this difficult time.
