Denis Connolly, newly appointed General Manager Commercial at British Airways World Cargo has announced the creation of a new commercial team to build closer business relationships with the airline's major customers.

Keith Packer, formerly Regional Cargo Manager Europe, takes over the newly created post of Senior Manager Global Sales & Marketing. The role includes responsibility for global sales development both with key customers and across all regions plus all of World Cargo's central marketing and marketing communications activity.

The Pacific and Southern Region is being divided into two separate areas of responsibility. Steve Cassidy becomes Regional Cargo Manager Pacific, based in Hong Kong and covering Japan and Korea, Hong Kong and Greater China, South East Asia and Australasia.

Tony Nothman, previously Senior Vice President Americas, returns to London as Regional Cargo Manager Southern. This includes the airline's commercial activity in South Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

The positions of Senior Vice President for the Americas and Regional Cargo Manager Europe will be the subject of an exhaustive internal and external search. In the meantime, Paul Giblin has rejoined British Airways World Cargo on a temporary basis to head up the Americas region.

Carina Fleischer continues as Head of UK and Ireland Sales and now also assumes responsibility for World Cargo's Call Centre. Fiona Clohosey's post of Regions Implementation Manager is unchanged.

Denis Connolly said: "These changes are aimed at building much closer working relationships with our global customers. I want to ensure we have a team that is clearly focused on the needs of our customers and can help us realise the commercial benefits of British Airways World Cargo's investments over the last 2-3 years and the strong performance of our new cargo centre at Heathrow.

Customers require a high level of interaction with senior managers in World Cargo. This is all part of us becoming much more visible in the market now that our new infrastructure is in place and starting to produce benefits for the business and our customers."
